Status
Design and Build Contract
The contract covering design and build of the QED HUB including Civil, MEP and Landscaping along with the systems integration was awarded in August 2025. Work on site is underway, with an expected completion date of Q2, 2026.
Systems Contract
The contract to design, manufacture, install, test, and commission the systems including the autonomous PODs, the guidance rail and associated power systems, signaling and telecommunications was awarded in February 2025. The first prototype POD was unveiled by ADT during the 2025 Global Rail Exhibition and Conference and is currently under off-site dynamic testing in Abu Dhabi. Other systems assets are on site, awaiting installation in line with the schedule.
The purpose of the QED HUB
Qualification of Technology
To test and qualify the transport technology under Abu Dhabi’s unique climatic conditions, ensuring that the system remains safe, reliable, and resilient. Successful qualification will confirm the technology’s viability to support the Emirate’s future public transport requirements.
Education and Public Awareness
To collect data and insights that will be used to educate the public about the technology, its mode of operation, capabilities, and potential use cases-fostering community understanding and acceptance.
Demonstration to Stakeholders
To showcase the system to future clients, partners, and interested parties, highlighting its benefits, applications, and integration potential within Abu Dhabi's wider multimodal transport network.
